The IBT Labor History Center is a gift to the George Washington University’s Gelman Library from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The facility promotes a collaborative effort to collect, document, curate, archive and disseminate IBT’s historical documents and artifacts previously scattered across North America at the organization’s various offices. cox graae + spack architects designed this Special Collection to be flexible, allowing for multiple uses by the Library while also accommodating exhibits, seminars and special events. The suite features archival-quality environmental controls to aid in preservation of the collection, museum-quality exhibit display cases, AV amenities and a state-of-the-art digitization facility to create a comfortable environment for scholars and visitors to study labor history.
