cox graae + spack architects designed the adaptive reuse of a small post war cottage as a new 3-story private residence. The sloped site borders a cascading creek and is heavily wooded. The owner requested an energy efficient and sustainably designed home that provided expansive views to the outdoors. cg+s designed the home to connect via a skylit central stair. Daily living spaces wrap around an elevated deck and look out into the treetops and creek. The building is highly insulated with high performance windows. Close-loop geothermal wells in the front yard provide heat and air conditioning.
