Our Lady of Good Counsel High School is a private, Catholic, college-preparatory, coeducational high school of 1,200 students located within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, in Olney, Maryland. Since it’s founding in 1958, the founding Xaverian Brothers’ core spiritual values of simplicity, humility, compassion, zeal, and trust have formed the distinctive basis for the Catholic school community. cox graae + spack architects was commissioned by the school to prepare a Utilization Assessment and develop master plan recommendations for their facility. Concept Plans were developed for various renovations and additions to the site, main and out buildings. The core objective was to develop concept level pricing based on scope narratives and conceptual drawings. The work was grouped into hypothetical, discrete projects based on their construction duration (summer project versus longer duration) and included site planning, main entry / administration / staff offices / bookstore / dining renovations, an arts and music addition and loading dock and other services. Other elements of the work includes upgrades to the athletic spaces, the courtyard enclosure and other various academic space renovations and additions.
