The St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School is an independent Episcopal college preparatory day school educating 1,120 boys and girls from junior kindergarten through grade 12. The School is housed on three separate campuses – Lower (JK – 5), Middle (6 – 8) and Upper (9-12) – located within a 1.5 mile radius of each other in Alexandria, Virginia. To help students succeed in a complex and changing world, the School seeks to inspire a passion for learning, an enthusiasm for athletic and artistic endeavor, a striving for excellence, a celebration of diversity, and a commitment to service. Along with this Mission, St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School is guided by a Strategic Plan, an evolving document which affirms its commitment to the academic, spiritual, artistic, and physical lives of each student. In conjunction with an effort to update their Strategic Plan, the School commissioned cox graae + spack architects to assist with developing master planning recommendations for their Lower, Middle & Upper School Campuses. Initial efforts focused on the review of current conditions, and determining facility needs and opportunities. The facilities needs assessment was a four-month process beginning in February, 2016. Subsequently, alternate site plan and phasing scenarios were developed and reviewed. Determinations developed through this planning effort provided information about campus facilities that assisted and informed strategic goals and vice versa. Final Campus Master Plan recommendations are scheduled for completion in the spring of 2107.
